Western Sydney University is pleased to host the Health and Wellbeing Symposium 2026, with support from the United Nations and the International Association of Universities (IAU).

Bringing together academics, health professionals, students, community leaders and partners, the Symposium will explore how universities can contribute to healthier, more equitable and sustainable communities.

Date: Thursday, 29 October 2026 from 2pm-5pm AEDT
Venue: Online

Attendance is free, and participants can choose to register as a guest or submit an abstract for consideration as part of the webinar program. Presentations will be selected to be either 10-minute feature presentations or 5 minute ‘rapid fire’ presentations. Abstract submissions are invited across four topic areas:

  • Topic Area 1: Use and abuse of AI – Rights and regulations
  • Topic Area 2: Technology-enhanced health education
  • Topic Area 3: Student experiences and pressures in higher education
  • Topic Area 4: Are microplastics and “forever chemicals” in food and water putting our health at risk?

Sponsored prizes will be available for the best presentation across each topic. The event will provide a forum to share innovative research, initiatives and partnerships addressing contemporary health and wellbeing challenges, while creating opportunities for discussion, collaboration and connection across disciplines, institutions and sectors.
We welcome anyone with an interest in improving health and wellbeing to join us for an engaging afternoon of ideas, collaboration and connection.
