We're pleased this month to highlight Responsible Futures International pilot institution Mohawk College (Canada). The Responsible Futures International Programme reinforces existing sustainability structures and engages the student body through various activities.
As a part of Mohawk College's sustainability efforts, they have launched a Responsible Futures Planning Team that works to unite students, staff, and student union representatives to advance Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), explore how the College can better prepare their students as global citizens, and enhance sustainability efforts at the college while supporting Truth and Reconciliation efforts.
Additionally the team hosted the inaugural Responsible Futures Forum on 18 November 2024. The event showcased student-led projects, promoted calls to action, and highlighted the findings of a recent student survey that gathered over 2,000 responses.
As part of the RF programme, a student-led audit involving eight students was recently completed.
Mohawk's participation in RF coincides with the launch of the College's Academic Plan and Cliamte Action Plan, as well as the new School of Climate Action.
