The Future of Sustainability - ACTS 2025

The 23rd Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability (ACTS) Conference, to be held virtually, invites the tertiary education sector and wider community to take bold, collective action toward a regenerative and just future under the theme βThe Future of Sustainability.β Conference partners are located in Australia and New Zealand and include the IAU members Murdoch University and Western Sydney University. As global systems face increasing pressure, the conference calls for deeper efforts to regenerate, restore, and reimagine what is possible. Open to sustainability practitioners, educators, and anyone interested in advancing sustainability, the event emphasizes equity, access, and action.
Through three key streams - Transforming Practice, Learning for Change, and Building a Just Transition - participants will explore the systems, skills, and leadership needed to embed sustainability across institutions and communities. The program will spotlight practical strategies, the role of education, and value-based governance, while recognizing the essential contributions of Indigenous knowledge systems to caring for the environment. Ultimately, the conference aims to inspire a shift from merely reducing harm to fostering regeneration, justice, and resilience in higher education and beyond.
