International Project on Fostering Women’s Leadership in Ukrainian Academia
The project “Fostering Women’s Leadership in Ukrainian Academia: An Intersectional and Culturally Responsive Perspective” was an initiative to advance gender equality and inclusive leadership across the higher education sector in Ukraine. Supported by the British Council under the British-Ukrainian Twinning framework, it was led by Mariupol State University in partnership with the University of Hull from March 2024 to April 2025.
The aim was to promote women’s leadership by embedding equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) values, and cultural responsiveness. Key actions included sharing institutional best practices, designing and running a professional development course called “Inclusive Leadership through Cultural Immersion” for university lecturers, and strengthening collaboration between both universities under these EDI principles.
