DAAD Programmes for Climate Action and Sustainability
About the DAAD Research programme for sustainability:
We are living in a time of human-made ecological crises; it will take a joint, global effort and the innovative power of international research to limit their effects to a just bearable level. The DAAD, therefore, funds international research for sustainability. The focus is not only on technical solutions but also on people accepting change and becoming part of the solutions to their situation at a local level. This latest edition of the DAAD Letter introduces, among others, the climapAfrica and MOPGA-GRI funding programmes – and also shows what measures the DAAD is taking as an organisation to reduce its own ecological footprint.
“Given the challenges of the Anthropocene, sustainable development is vital for us: in terms of the potential international research offers for finding solutions, in terms of our own organisation and in terms of our global network”, says DAAD president Joybrato Mukherjee.
