Originally founded as a faculty under the initial Western University in 1945, it received its name as a university in 2001. They now have three faculties: the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Dental Medicine, and the Faculty of Pharmacy. As primarily a medical university, the university contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (specifically SDG3, SDG4) through advancing education and research in the medical, pharmaceutical, and life sciences.
