2024 RUFORUM Conference
The second triennial conference of the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) Conference was held from 12 - 16 August 2024. It was hosted in Namibia, held under the theme of "Operationalising Higher Agricultural Education and Research Ecosystems for Innovation, Industrialisation and Economic Development in Africa: A Call for Action." The conference aimed to enable education and agricultural ecosystem actors to showcase and present key findings, share lessons, and advance science in Africa's development.
Key actors present were the African Union Commission (AUC) and sub-Regional Research Organisations (SROs).
Professors from the Botswana University of Agriculture & Natural Resources (BUAN) were present and delivered a presentation.
Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between BUAN and the University of Namibia (UNAM) to support capacity building and strengthen collaborative academic and Industry research in Africa. UNAM also signed MOUs with Makerere University (Uganda), University of South Africa, and Chinhoyi University of Technology (Zimbabwe).
